Share Your Story

Personal stories about recovering from an eating disorder can be extremely compelling and inspiring.

Sharing these stories challenges the stigma associated with the illness and helps promote a better understanding about what might work to support recovery. When safely shared, these personal stories can motivate and empower others to start their own journey towards recovery.

Sharing your story is a personal decision and choice. When determining whether you may be ready to share your story publicly, take the time to reflect on your emotional, physical and psychological well-being and where you may be in your own recovery process.

Eating disorders are complex mental illnesses affecting all kinds of people, regardless of gender, age, size, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or background. When sharing one’s personal story in a public setting, it is crucial that you feel you are sharing your story in a safe space, where you are being treated with the utmost sensitivity and respect.
